RIIWHS205E CONTROL TRAFFIC WITH A STOP/SLOW BAT – LEVEL 1
Overview
This is the official traffic controller course you need to complete to get working and earning money within the traffic management industry on Queensland roads.
We’re a government registered training organisation with top-notch trainers from real world backgrounds.
The course involves 8 hours in the classroom and 20 hours of on-the-job experience.

Learning Goals
To get you ready to work as a skilled traffic controller. You’ll learn the fundamental real world skills needed to safely direct vehicles and pedestrians through and around construction and/or civil sites autonomously or as part of a traffic management team or crew.
Requirements
You’ve held a driver’s licence (foreign, provisional or open) within the last 5 years and hold a current white card (CPCCWHS1001) or industry equivalent.
We provide the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for your 20 hour vocational training:
• Yellow hardhat
• Safety sunglasses
• Regulated long sleeve traffic control fluoro shirt
You’ll need the following PPE / equipment of your own:
• Lace up safety boots
• Work pants (with the mandatory fluoro stripes above and below the knee)
• Uniden 5 watt UH850S Titanium radio (or similar 5 watt unit)
• Stop / slow bat
Course Delivery
You start with 8 hours of classroom-based training. Then 20 hours of vocational training where you’ll undergo supervised practical experience on a real jobsite with one of our partnering traffic management companies. All vocational training is arranged by us. Finally, a practical assessment to ensure you’re ready to work.

Qualification Achieved
On successfully completing the course, you’ll receive your Statement of Attainment for:
RIIWHS205E Control traffic with a stop/slow bat
RIIWHS201E Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
RIICOM201E Communicate in the workplace
Certificate Validity
Submit your Statement of Attainment to the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Once processed, your Traffic Controller Accreditation is issued for 3 years.
